Largest live implementation of
Augmented Reality in India
Making an Awards show larger than life
Fountainhead Digital has been associated with the esteemed Aditya Birla Group, a 40 bn dollar corporation, for 10 years. The Aditya Birla Awards for Outstanding Achievement is an annual event for the Group’s 120,000 employees in 36 countries, honouring the achievements of their best and brightest. We were privileged to create something unique and spectacular to engage the audience at the Awards – augmented reality.
The Need for Innovation
Over the years, the Aditya Birla Awards has featured some truly stunning acts. From the biggest celebrities to speaker sessions by iconic world leaders, the Awards have pretty much done it all. This legacy gave us scope to experiment and present something new and different to the audience.
Our aim was to feature the employees of the Group, making them the stars of the show. Narrowing down on some inspiring leaders from the Group, we set about transforming these top business executives into show-stopping performers. This set off a brainwave – using augmented reality to engage with the audience whilst celebrating the Group’s achievements.
Executives at the Forefront
We began to pick out key elements of the businesses of the Group, and find ways to bring them to life, using creative storylines and amazing
animation – all of it in line with the theme of the event, Future Fearless.
From Ideation to Execution
It was time to get down to action: sketching out visuals to be animated, writing scripts, animating and rendering special effects, and since the
frames had to be perfectly aligned to the dimensions of the stage, timing them precisely.
Behind the Scenes
Down to the wire, there was one last round of intensive testing. We recreated the actual event stage in a studio, and tested everything, fine-tuned the animations and rehearsed with the business leaders who would interact with the augmented reality experiences.
The Aditya Birla Group asked for something amazing to engage the audience at the Aditya Birla Awards for Outstanding Achievement.
On 10th December 2014, as 2000 employees of the Aditya Birla Group came together to witness the largest ever live implementation of Augmented Reality in India, we delivered.
